My name is Tara, and I live in the middle of the woods, in Maine, surrounded by yarn and leaves. I am a lifelong fiber artist and maker. I started eagerly on my fiber art journey when my adorable grandmother taught me how to crochet at the age of eight while on a camping trip.
In Maine during the harsh winter, it gets bitterly cold, and we need to protect our heads, hands, torso, arms…well… pretty much our whole body. I started making necessary things to keep my family warm during these cold winters. I have made so many knit items and loved doing it so much I decided to share my knit talent with other delightful people in the world that also need to keep warm.Â
When creating a great knit item, I try, wherever possible, to use locally sourced yarns so that I can not only create amazing knitwear items, but support other independent businesses, dyers and especially the local yarn shops. There are so many unique breeds of sheep that provide amazing fleece for yarns! I discovered that mills across the USA are creating amazing wool yarns from the sheep raised right here in the USA.Â
My techniques to create with yarn range from machine knitting, hand knitting, crochet, embroidery and needle felting. I am always on the look out for new techniques to create even more one of a kind items to keep everyone warm and stylish.
