Vendor Biography

A tondo is an image framed inside a circular frame. The name originated in the Early Renaissance (1500s) period of Italy, named as a “rotondo” – the Italian word for round. Rotondos were hand-painted images on canvas or boards, fit into mostly hand-carved round and oval wood frames, destined for high society collectors/patrons. Contemporarily, round and oval image formats are created generally for photographic images. Modern frames that match them are available from art and framing galleries, priced proportionally (pricey). So, I am offering hand-crafted round and oval posters in a more affordable price range, in sizes from 9” to 35″ diameters. Printed on canvas or polypropelene film with UV inks; a clear UV varnish (water-resistant); a firm base; a variety of frame colors. No glass is necessary. Cleaned with a moist or wet sponge. Hand-built with 100% American materials. Not imported. For Custom orders, send your art at p.plouchart@usa.net
