Wild violets are perennial and native to the United States, Canada and parts of Mexico. They self-seed freely in lawns and gardens. In the photos for this item, you will see a closeup of their blooms. More importantly, you will see a photo of my natural, chemical free lawn and how it looks each spring, filled with the blooms of this lovely little native spring flower. What a wonderful way to bring in the new growing season. After blooming, the violets just continue to grow along with your lawn grass and each spring you are rewarded with the beautiful display which blooms in your lawn for several weeks. Some people want only grass turf in their lawn. Not I! I love with display of early spring blossoms and the promise they provide for the upcoming growing season.
YOUR ORDER:
Sold by the dozen. You will receive bare root plants in the quantity ordered. They will be harvested fresh from my lawn on the day they ship. As always, shipping is free.
PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS:
When they arrive at your door, immediately plant them in pots using quality potting soil and care for them as you would any other plant, keeping them indoors for a few days to recover from shipping. Next, go through a few days of hardening off before finally planting outdoors in your lawn. For mass planting, space 12-18 inches apart. Care for them as you would any newly planted plant, being sure they have plenty of water the first two weeks until the root system is established. They will fill in over the next growing season and continue to create a nice, spring display for you.
