FIRST NATIONS INSPIRATIONS COLORING PAGES

For this Coloring Book, I drew inspiration from the art of indigenous people from different parts of the world. For me, this type of art embodies the spirit of The First People, opening a window into history and allowing us a glimpse into their daily lives. I find it to be fascinating, full of mysterious symbols and unique points of view. It is interesting to me that so many different cultures, so far apart, all have this one burning desire; to communicate their thoughts and experiences through art!

These Coloring Pages are my interpretations of some of the styles of art attributed to The First Peoples of Earth, and are not intended as an authentic representation of their work. While I may never grasp the full meaning of their symbolism, I hope my drawings express the mystery and beauty that inspired me. As many First Nation descendants continue to create artwork based on traditional designs, I hope that you are inspired to seek them out on the Web and perhaps purchase some of their awesome creations.

I hope you enjoy adding your own color and design touches to these pages. They make beautiful small posters when framed. As this coloring book is a digital file, you can print as many as needed to experiment. While using inexpensive printer paper is fine, loading your printer with higher quality paper will allow more freedom of artistic expression. Print them on heavier paper for use with markers and paint. Paper with a slight “tooth” would work well for crayons and color pencils. I suggest that you select which pages you want to print, instead of the whole file. This will save ink by not printing the cover or other non-coloring pages. Print as many as you like, as often as you wish! *
