Hello…so nice to meet you, if only virtually! 

My name is Jean Anne Lake, and my brand’s name is Handcrafted by J. Anne.

When I retired from a 50-plus year career as a community pharmacist, I had no real need for a closet full of clothes of my own making! My husband & I live in a rural area of the beautiful Texas Hill Country, and we enjoy a quiet, secluded life. Home is where I want to be!

I have been a sewist since age six, and often made clothing for myself & our kids. Kids are grown, I’m retired and  blessed with good health & creative energy!  Those are the primary reasons I started making bags. I found bag making to be a highly satisfying way to spend my time and fill my need to create beautiful, useful things .

I started my business in 2018. I sell at local markets that specialize in handcrafted goods – ideal for me, but not many out here!

Imagine my delight when I became aware of My Community Made, an online platform offering only handcrafted items and vintage goods!

I am offering many styles of my finely crafted bags here because it is very rewarding to sell high-end quality work at affordable prices because I sell directly to you, with no middleman!
