About Wander the Woods
Wander the Woods is wood-based laser cut jewelry and art. The earrings are made from natural wood and hypoallergenic findings of niobium or stainless steel. The artwork mixes acrylic pouring with laser cutting to make shadow boxes with layers of painted fiberboard, natural wood and repurposed wood.
I am Melissa, the artist and owner of Wander the Woods. I grew up hiking and camping with my family and always had a love for trees. I love playing with the beauty of wood grain in the things I make. I discovered acrylic pouring by seeing videos of it and became obsessed. As a perfectionist, I find it very cathartic as you have to just let the paint do what it does.
Sustainability is important to me. The wood I use comes from mill ends and scrap wood or sustainable lumberyards. I also make acrylic pour stud earrings, laser remnant art, and acrylic pour magnets making use of things that would normally be thrown away. All packaging is from recycled goods.
