Description
This is a NEW CROP. Our perilla bushes were grown in organic conditions with no pesticides in the state of Delaware. Tended and harvested by hand before the first frost of 2024. Our organic perilla seeds are dried in their flower pod clusters with little disturbance. Each flower pod contains 3-4 seeds.
Our perilla seeds are sold in clusters of 20 pods. A cluster of 20 pods has approximately 60-80 viable seeds. On average, there are 75 viable seeds. A cluster of 40 pods has approximately 140-160 viable seeds. On average, there are 150 viable seeds. A cluster of 60 pods has approximately 210-240 seeds. We recommend planting by pod, especially in windier zones.
All of our perilla seed pods are mailed in a protective frame casing to ensure that they do not get crushed during the transit process. Gardening instructions are included with your package.
The perilla leaves can be harvested all summer long. The minty fragrance repels most pests. The more often you harvest, the bushier the plant becomes. They may be added to salads as herbal garnish, added to stir fry as a leafy green vegetable, or pickled in soy sauce and wrapped around gamey and fatty meats.
